John for Birdie
Dr. Newman emphasizes comfort when treating his patients. He spends the
time to provide thorough dental care for every patient. He treats his patients as he
himself would want to be treated. Dr. Newman hopes to inspire his patient’s confidence,
and to prove over many years that his practice is worthy of that confidence.
EDUCATION
Dr. Newman’s high integrity shows in his educational achievements. In
1978, he graduated as a Valedictorian from Harbor High School
here in Santa Cruz. He continued to the University of California
at Santa Cruz (UCSC), where he received his Bachelors with Highest Honors in
Chemistry. In 1986, he graduated in the top 5% of his class at the University
of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Dental School. There he received a
number of awards acknowledging his enthusiasm in his work.
Dr. Newman continues to share his enthusiasm in education. He has been
a clinical instructor at Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene School
since 1986. He hopes that you experience comfort as he and his staff educate you to
achieve good dental health.
FAMILY MAN
Dr. Newman spends his free time with his family. He enjoys outdoor
activities with his daughter, being there for the development of his active infant son,
and the company of his wife. Together, we enjoy a sunny day at the park, swimming at the
pool, and sushi or Mexican food for dinner.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITES
John is an avid tennis player. You might see him playing a competitive
match at a local court. He also enjoys an occasional round of golf. In the winter he snow
skis with his family in the Lake Tahoe area.
He brings music through piano and singing. He enjoys playing the piano
with his daughter. John is an active member of the Holy Cross Choir.
He sings tenor; on occasion will cantor a mass; and has sung at a number of
weddings.
